Dry food for puppies: how to choose it and how much to give

Advice · · Golosi

There are plenty of bags labelled for puppies in the shops. Three details on the label and one table will make choosing simpler.

Three details on the label

Who the food is for. Look for the words “complete feed for puppies”. A complete feed is enough on its own as a daily ration. Golosi Dog Baby All Breeds is for puppies of all breeds, so you don’t have to choose by size.

Composition. Ingredients are listed by weight, and the first is the one the food contains most of. In Dog Baby All Breeds that’s dehydrated chicken meat, 22%.

Analytical constituents. This is where you compare protein and fat. Dog Baby All Breeds has 30% protein and 17% fat; Golosi recipes for adult dogs have 25 to 27% protein and 14 to 15% fat.

How to read the feeding table

The daily amount depends on two things: how much the puppy weighs and how many months old it is. In the table for Dog Baby All Breeds, find the row by weight and the column by age.

For example, a 5 kg puppy aged 4 to 6 months gets 155 g a day. At 6 to 8 months and the same weight, it’s 125 g.

Always make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water, and store the kibble at room temperature. If you’re not sure about the amount, ask your vet.

Pack sizes

Dog Baby All Breeds is sold in 2.5 kg and 12 kg packs. You’ll find the composition, the analytical constituents and the full feeding table on the recipe page.
